Walk to School Week begins on Monday 15th May. We hope that pupils, parents and staff will have an enjoyable time taking part to promote sustainable travel in and around the City.
This year’s theme for the five-day walking challenge is Walk with Wildlife. This year’s challenge encourages children to travel actively to school every day of the week. Meeting various animals along the way, they will learn about the important reasons to walk and the difference it can make for individuals, communities and the planet!
Pupils will be encouraged to walk, wheel, cycle and scoot to school every day of the week, earning stickers as they go along, with a special reward up for grabs at the end of the week!
Walking has so many benefits from physical to mental wellbeing; aiding concentration and creativity and creating safer, less polluted and more welcoming streets.
All that makes for a happy, healthy child, set up for success in and out of the classroom.
We look forward to seeing everyone enjoying their walk to school as they join thousands of children across the country to celebrate the wide range of benefits that walking brings.
Thank you for your support for Walk to School Week 2023.
